Second in my Places to Eat on the Road series. In Ogdensburg today, I stopped in at Phoenix on the Bay. Right away, staff members made me feel welcome — they were friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a lovely patio overlooking the river in addition to ample seating inside in the dining room and bar area. The menu is fairly basic fare — if you’re vegetarian, there are lots of salads. Otherwise, there are sandwiches, soups, fish and chips and quesaddilla.
I opted to eat on the patio and have the steak and cheese quesaddilla. The breeze was very pleasant and the food came very quickly. I didn’t see a wine list but they had a pinot grigio which was also very nice. They accept Canadian money and they’re right on the main street, Ford Street, just down from the UPS store. They’re open for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. when they close and re-open at 4 p.m. for dinner. ***
