A great place to eat if you’re visiting Red Deer, Alberta, especially if you like Italian food, is La Casa Pergola. There are other things on the menu besides Italian but everything looked delicious.
As we had had both breakfast and late morning tea already, I wasn’t too hungry so I was a bit innovative about my ordering. The menu provides lots of “add-ons” to your basic meal so I had some garlic bread on the side with a cup of Silky Butternut Squash and Carrot Soup. Then for an entrée, I had the Baked Atlantic Salmon add-on. It was perfect: tender, succulent, and juicy. My sister-in-law had the same except for the salmon; she had the Caesar salad. My brother had his favourite: a half order of Vitello Milanese, veal lightly breaded with herbs and fresh lemon. He has had it many times and just loves it. I would hate to try to eat the full order after seeing the half order; it was huge!

For dessert, I had a rather large piece of Tiramisu (I needed a doggy bag to bring the rest home) and my sister-in-law had the B52 Cheesecake. Both were excellent!

Try to go after the lunch hour and parking will be easier but the meters give you up to two hours. Of course, you can always go for dinner but make a reservation. In nicer weather, you can sit outside on the patio but the inside has some very private areas and is well-appointed and romantically decorated.
