Tonight I’m staying in a Days Inn in Lexington, Virginia, and it’s office shares a building with a Mexican restaurant and bar, Muchacho Alegro. I decided to try it for dinner this evening and was highly impressed.
As soon as I was seated, a platter of nacho chips and a pair of dips was placed on my table. My waiter, José, took my drink order and gave me some time to decide. I came up with two choices because my first choice was on the lunch menu and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get it. However, for only $2.00 more, I was told I could indeed have it. I didn’t have to wait long.
Allegra Rice was as delicious as it was colourful: grilled steak (or you could have chicken) mixed with grilled vegetables served on a bed of rice and topped with cheese dip.
The menu has many tortilla and quesadillas as well as luncheon specials and vegetarian fare. The restaurant has a distinctly Mexican flavour as well.
If you’re stopping in Lexington, Virginia any time soon, you should give this restaurant a try. *****
