Off Again

Fledgling Snowbird

After two years of moving, building, renovating, decorating, and enjoying my new digs overlooking the Ottawa River, I’m trying something new:  I’m going to be a fledgling snowbird!  Wednesday morning I’m loading up the car and heading off to Miami.  I’m taking short stints in case of foul weather along the way, especially here in the north, but since I enjoy driving and am visiting all new places en route, I’m really looking forward to watching the terrain change, seeing famous cities, watching the days get longer, and feeling them get warmer.

Three Eyes National Park, Santo Domingo

Stops will include Lexington, Virginia, Savannah, Georgia, St. Augustine, Florida, and then I’ll be experiencing the Kennedy Space Centre (for which I have an app), and the next day, Miami.  I’m especially looking forward to the Art Deco section of Miami and hope to get lots of pictures to share.  I’ll also be visiting some spots I’ve read about before leaving my car and flying to the Dominican where I’ll be more of a tourist this year and still have a day with my sponsor child (Compassion Canada) and his mother.  The plan is to visit Three Eyes National Park which I saw last year but they have never seen.  I think they will be very excited and enjoy seeing how beautiful their country is.

Unusual Sarasota Architecture

After picking up my car in Miami, I hope to be spending a few days in the Sarasota area — on the beach, seeing some unique architecture (for which it is famous), viewing some museums, and finding interesting restaurants — before finally heading home a different route to see other cities I’ve never been to before.

I hope you’ll follow along on my blog and enjoy my pictures.  Praying for a safe trip and a wonderful visit with my foster child and really incredible weather.  Perhaps by the time I get home the days won’t be so short here in Canada and the worst of the snow will be over.

About mysm2000

Having taught elementary school for more than 25 years and been involved in many amazing technology and curriculum projects, I find I've developed a myriad of interests based on literature I've read and music I've heard. I've followed The Wright Three to Chicago, Ansel Adams to Colorado, The Kon Tiki Expedition to Easter Island, Simon & Garfunkel lyrics to New York City, Frank Lloyd Wright to Fallingwater, Pennsylvania, and have only just begun.

Take time to have a Cuban sandwich in Miami😋. And seeing the National Park thru your sponsor child’s eyes should be amazing.
    Buen Viaje 🇩🇴🇺🇸
